'you overpriced your artworks'

'You overprice your ARTWORK!!!!'

I dunno where any artist can hear this,

'You overprice your ARTWORK!'

but a bunch of 'Asia Pacific's Leading Arts Instituition' students did hear from the school

this happened few years back, where this whole class of diploma students need to do their assessment in some 'insecure' classrooms. the students spent one whole day setting up their works (by the way, the works are made of expensive medium) just for the assessment.

but shit happened... on the assessment day which was the next day, students were called up about missing of artworks in assessment at around 3-4pm. by the time the students reached, they were told someone has stolen the whole class' artworks... the students were pissed. and the school informed the students only 5 hrs after they discovered the works were stolen...

the lecturers told the students that the work were stolen while they were having lunch and it was stolen before they 'assessed' our work, they claimed that they did go thru all of students' work before they went for LUNCH.... 1st of all, HOW DID THEY ASSESS THE WORKS AFTER THE WORKS WERE STOLEN?

After the incident, the students held a meeting with the vice president of the school, and the students quote how much they have lost, and the vice president and his secretary said what we have quote shd have been higher due to the material cost, labor cost, and most important they are works produced in 1 year... yeah... the students thought the vice president was a nice guy...

but after the holiday, the school only returned 1/10 of what the students asked for. and they were told that they overprice their artworks. BUT WHAT DID THE VICE PRESIDENT SAY DURING THE MEETING?

The students were treated badly that the school didnt take much resposibility of lost artworks and they did not bother to tighten up security in school. and the students never have a clear idea how the school is assessing students' works based on criteria. there is never a proper detailed report on students' results.

heard about this case. the school should be liable for whatever damages and loss incurred since it was under their care. this reminds me of the Masters Students , whose studios are in the tin shed next to the Fine Arts office. Everytime there is a heavy downpour, water seeps into the studios. Quite a number of times, there have been flooding. There have been damages to artworks, some irreparable. However, the students just take it, when in fact, if they did take the trouble to pursue compensation, they had a perfectly legal case.

This just goes to show that we are all guilty of being apathetic students. We should fight for our Rights.

I was one of the students whose works got stolen. I couldn’t think of it more than joke prank by my friend when I was informed about the break in. IT was hilarious. Unless you are visually impaired which I cannot blame you for not seeing the old doors across the classrooms, with much sanity the assessment should not be taken place in that room or there must be extra secure to that door. AND no, none of these happened. It IS the lousy doors and loose security tempted the people who steal the works. An OPENED bag, with cash sticking out, not properly kept, who would not be tempted?? You are attracting CRIME to happen and at the suspense of students work? Look if the room is secured, none of this will happen.

We got a mere low “refund” of what we “bargained” for precedes by what seems to be a honest and genuine concerned meeting we had with the school 。We are not bargaining and not surcharging for anything or whatever. We want a reasonable answer to the incident and we to see how the school is going take the responsibility. And yeah we saw how.

A police report was made and presented. The look on the school look so concerned--as if the police could help when YOUR doors are easily opened for crooks and as if YOU are concerned about the works that they student make over the one year. Your reassurance is very discomforting.
Obloquy is what is concerned I believed.

and by the way, this might happen few years ago (and the school thought no one will remember this ever again), but this incident revealed how the school handled things in school.
